About Me

Realistic acrylic paintings inspired by a lifelong love of the outdoors.

Rooted in the quiet, rural landscapes of Crossroads, Louisiana, my art is a direct reflection of a childhood spent outdoors. Growing up surrounded by a diverse array of animals in wide-open spaces, I developed a deep and lasting connection to nature.

Primarily self-taught, I filled notebooks and shoeboxes with sketches at a young age. Years later, when life allowed more space, I returned to painting with renewed focus. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas and panel, I use close attention to detail to capture the unique essence and personality of each subject.

I want my art to inspire people to slow down and really notice the animals around them.  Look closely at the way a slender white egret patiently stands in wait for just the right moment, the beautiful markings on a mallard drake vs a mallard hen, or the kind, loyal expression in a faithful dog’s eyes.

My Work

I always start with the eyes. To me, the eyes hold the personality and soul of an animal, so I want to get them right before moving on. I don’t paint in hyper-realism, but I do want each piece to feel true to the animal I’m painting. I love the challenge of capturing the unique textures of nature—from short, sleek fur and long, soft coats to delicate feathers—while bringing out the character that makes each animal special.
